        HONORING Paula A. Stopera upon the occasion of her
        designation   as   recipient   of   the   Third  Age
        Achievement  Award  for  Business  by   the   Senior
        Services of Albany

  WHEREAS,  From  time  to  time  this  Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals  it  wishes  to  recognize  for  their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Paula A. Stopera upon the occasion of her designation  as  recipient  of
the  Third  Age Achievement Award for Business by the Senior Services of
Albany, to be celebrated at its 23rd Annual Awards Luncheon  on  Friday,
May 10, 2019, at Wolferts Roost Country Club in Albany, New York; and

  WHEREAS,   Each   year,   this   auspicious   event  recognizes  the
contributions area  residents  and  professionals  have  made  in  their
communities  during  the  Third  Age of their lives; Paula A. Stopera is
truly deserving of this prestigious award; and

  WHEREAS, A native of the Capital District, Paula  A.  Stopera  is  a
graduate of Cohoes High School and attended both Hudson Valley Community
College and Russell Sage College; and

  WHEREAS,  In 1980, Paula A. Stopera began her long and distinguished
career in the bank industry as a teller at CAP COM Federal Credit Union;
through the years, she  rose  through  the  ranks,  eventually  becoming
President  and  CEO  in  2005,  the  position  from which she officially
retired in 2019; and

  WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure,  Paula  A.  Stopera  has  diligently
worked to make CAP COM succeed; through her tireless efforts, the credit
union has grown from nine employees in one location to 400 employees and
11  locations; she also established the Cap Com Cares Charity, which has
logged over 30,000 volunteer hours, and  donated  significant  funds  to
numerous local groups; and

  WHEREAS,  Paula A. Stopera is actively involved with several Capital
Region organizations, and  served  as  Chair  of  the  Capital  District
Chamber  of  Commerce, Treasurer and Director of the YMCA of the Capital
District, and co-Chair of the 2018 American Red Cross Fire and Ice Ball;
and

  WHEREAS,  For  her  steadfast  and  unremitting  commitment  to  her
profession and community, Paula A. Stopera was the recipient of numerous
awards  and  accolades  including  the Arthur Kapner Spirit Award by the
Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Excellence Award by the
Women's Business Council, the 2008 Outstanding Professional Award by the
Credit Association of New York, and  the  Mary  E.  Brizell  Building  a

Senior  Community  Colonie  Spirit  Award by the Colonie Senior Services
Center; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the  maintenance  of  high  standards  in  their
profession,  certainly  have  earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor Paula A. Stopera upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of  the  Third Age Achievement Award for Business by the Senior Services
of Albany; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Paula A. Stopera.
