Assembly Resolution No. 685 BY: M. of A. Thiele CONGRATULATING the William Floyd High School Varsity Dance Team upon the occasion of capturing the Long Island Dance Team Association Competition WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the William Floyd High School Varsity Dance Team upon the occasion of capturing the Long Island Dance Team Association Competition in February of 2022; and WHEREAS, In addition to this monumental win, the Rockettes were the recipients of the coveted Choreography Award; and WHEREAS, For the first time in more than a decade, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported the Rockettes throughout their journey as they ended their season with an impressive overall record; and WHEREAS, The Rockettes began their season with a return to their annual Rockette Summer Camp, in which varsity team members share their dance knowledge, creativity and choreography skills to teach routines to local children between the age of six and 14; the camp culminates in a performance showcase for family and friends, which is a highlight for the team each year; and WHEREAS, The Rockettes then returned to their roots and participated in the traditional seasons of performance including at all varsity home football and basketball games, as well as special-event performance at the pep rally and during halftime of the Suffolk County Championship football game at Stony Brook University; and WHEREAS, In addition, the Rockettes joined in the annual Mastics & Shirley Christmas Parade where they received the Best Performance Award by the Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as competitive dance, which demands athletic prowess, strength and agility, Advisors Lisa Taiani and Tiana Necega have worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; and WHEREAS, Advisors Lisa Taiani and Tiana Necega and all of the outstanding athletes on the William Floyd High School Varsity Dance Team have clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate the members of the William Floyd High School Varsity Dance Team: Captains, Lianna Cangin, Alexandra Clougher and Casey Loughlin; Seniors, Morgan Blankenship, Bella Bratchie, Erin Brazzel, Juliana Crane, Alyssa DeGregorio, Richie Goslin, Madison Grimm, Adenike Osanyingbemi, Alyssa Rissland, and Katie Sunderman; Juniors, Jada Dioro, Sofia Lombardo, Lena O'Neil, Ariana Rodriguez, Madison Soto, Emma Stoia, and Jaelyn Ziegler; Sophomores, Jenna Bragg, Ava Costanzo, Karen Jackson, Gabrielle Martin, Mikayla Mentz, Alyssa Vasquez, and Kaitlyn Vlacich; and Freshmen, Meghan Conklin, Abigail DeMartino, Michael Gallo, Ava Llanes, Maisy Miller, Liliana Mrozowski, Yahaira Ortiz, Ella Stiriz, and Tatyana Thawe; and Advisors Lisa Taiani and Tiana Necega upon the occasion of capturing the Long Island Dance Team Association Competition; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the members of the William Floyd High School Varsity Dance Team, and Advisors Lisa Taiani and Tiana Necega.
