        CONGRATULATING Detective Richard Galluppi upon the
        occasion   of  his  retirement  after  21  years  of
        distinguished service to the  City  of  Rome  Police
        Department

  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor  those  distinguished  officers  and  citizens  who  would  devote
themselves  to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing  for  the  care  and  welfare  of  the  citizens  of  their
communities and this great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS,  Within  every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment  and  dedication,
command  the  respect  and  admiration  of  their  community  for  their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  congratulate
Detective  Richard Galluppi upon the occasion of his retirement after 21
years of distinguished service to the City of  Rome  Police  Department;
and

  WHEREAS,  A  resident  of Rome, New York, Richard Galluppi earned an
Associate's  degree  from  Onondaga  Community  College  and  both   his
Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Ithaca College; and

  WHEREAS,  Richard  Galluppi  began  his  illustrious  career  in law
enforcement as a Patrolman in 1999; he went  on  to  serve  for  several
years  in  the  K-9  Unit with his partner Riso before being promoted to
Detective, the esteemed position from which  he  officially  retired  on
June 29, 2020; and

  WHEREAS,  For  more  than  two  decades,  Detective Richard Galluppi
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service  to  the  City  of
Rome  Police Department, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of
his colleagues; and

  WHEREAS, Detective  Richard  Galluppi  is  the  proud  recipient  of
numerous awards and accolades, some of which include the CNY Association
of  Chiefs  Award,  Joe  Dundon  Public  Safety Award, and the Philip S.
McDonald Police Benevolent Award for Exceptional Service;  he  was  also
named Oneida County American Legion Officer of the Year; and

  WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law  enforcement officers as Detective Richard Galluppi for their valued
contributions to the community; and

  WHEREAS, It is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  those
dedicated  public  servants  who  unselfishly  devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are  worthy  and  due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate  Detective  Richard  Galluppi  upon  the  occasion  of  his
retirement  after  21 years of distinguished service to the City of Rome
Police Department, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and
be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Detective Richard Galluppi.
