        COMMEMORATING the 75th Anniversary of the Southern
        Tier   Magic  Circle,  Inc.,  Ring  No.  79  of  the
        International Brotherhood of Magicians

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  commend  those
illustrious  organizations  of  the  State  of  New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of  life  in  their
communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern  and  in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate  the  75th  Anniversary  of  the Southern Tier Magic Circle,
Inc., Ring No. 79 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians,  to  be
celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2024; and

  WHEREAS,  The Southern Tier Magic Circle, Inc. is organized to bring
together individuals interested in the  art  of  magic  to  advance  the
quality  and  quantity  of magic performance in the Southern Tier of New
York State; and

  WHEREAS, The group was originally chartered on March  15,  1949,  as
the  Triple  Cities  Ring No. 79, and later changed its name to the J.R.
McNair Ring No. 79 in honor of a recently deceased charter member of the
ring; its 20 charter members were: Perry Jones  (President),  Norman  W.
Howard,  Charles  N.  Griffiths,  George Barvinchak, Ralph Carroll, John
Cebulla, Floyd H. Eilenberger, Samual Feldman, J. Emery  Kelley,  Marley
Lewis,  J.  R. McNair, William F. Merz, Charles E. Moss, Joseph E. Poff,
Clyde R.  Powell, Robert C. Ross, Michael Supa, Frank  Tarricone,  James
C. Tress; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Southern  Tier Magic Circle, Inc., Ring No. 79 of the
International  Brotherhood  of   Magicians   was   incorporated   as   a
not-for-profit  educational  organization  under  its  present  name  on
November 12, 1976, under the direction of then President Michael Gorman;
and

  WHEREAS,  With  a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment   to   its
community,  Ring  No. 79 members have performed many shows to help local
schools raise  funds,  including  Vestal,  Union  Endicott,  Susquehanna
Valley,  Binghamton, and Whitney Point; over the years, the organization
has also supported the Earth Day Festival at  Broome  Community  College
and other local initiatives by performing magic during their events; and

  WHEREAS,  Furthermore,  Ring  No.  79  hosted  the New York Canadian
Conclave of Magicians in 1949, 1955,  1961  and  1992,  to  advance  the
knowledge and skills of magicians from New York and Canada; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Southern Tier Magic Circle has supported and advanced
the careers of many magicians over the years, some of which have gone on
to professional careers in magic; former member, Michael Gorman,  served
as   president  of  the  International  Brotherhood  of  Magicians  from
1991-1992; and

  WHEREAS, For 75 years, the Southern Tier Magic  Circle  has  been  a
constant source of magic education, friendship, camaraderie, and support
for countless magicians from the Southern Tier of New York; and

  WHEREAS,  The  success  of  Ring  No.  79 of the Southern Tier Magic
Circle is  in  direct  correlation  to  the  efforts  of  its  dedicated
President  Christopher  Sablich  and  members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm,  and  an  uncompromising  standard  of  excellence  in   all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom  of  this  Legislative  Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated  and  recognized  by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of  the  Southern  Tier  Magic  Circle,
Inc.,  Ring No. 79 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians; and be
it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Christopher Sablich, President of the Southern Tier Magic
Circle, Inc., Ring No. 79 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
