       Introduced by Sen. FUSCHILLO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
       AN  ACT  to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to school bus
         safety equipment
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Subdivision  20 of section 375 of the vehicle and traffic
    2  law is amended by adding a new paragraph (m) to read as follows:
    3    (M) EVERY SUCH OMNIBUS MANUFACTURED FOR USE IN THIS STATE ON AND AFTER
    4  JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A  SCHOOL  BUS
    5  FRONT  CROSSING  ARM  CONFORMING  TO  THE  STANDARDS  ESTABLISHED BY THE
    6  COMMISSIONER PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION TWENTY-ONE-E OF THIS SECTION.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
