        Introduced  by  Sens. DIAZ, ESPAILLAT, LATIMER -- read twice and ordered
          printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investi-
          gations and Government Operations -- recommitted to the  Committee  on
          Investigations  and  Government  Operations  in accordance with Senate
          Rule  6,  sec.  8  --  committee  discharged,  bill  amended,  ordered
          reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee
        AN  ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to prohibiting outside
          work by a legislator during the term of office
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1. The legislative law is amended by adding a new section 2-a
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 2-a. Members prohibited from engaging in outside activity for remun-
     4  eration while in office. No member of the legislature, either senate  or
     5  assembly,  shall  engage in any outside activity for remuneration of any
     6  kind during his or her term of office.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2018.
