       Introduced  by  Sen.  ADAMS  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
       AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the powers and  duties
         of the chancellor of the New York city school district
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 2590-h of the education law is amended by adding  a
    2  new subdivision 15-a to read as follows:
    3    15-A.  DIRECT  THAT  EACH  SCHOOL  OR AN ESTABLISHED COMMITTEE THEREOF
    4  SHALL HOLD MEETINGS AT LEAST ANNUALLY, OPEN TO PARENTS  AND  PERSONS  IN
    5  PARENTAL  RELATION,  DURING  WHICH THEY SHALL DISCUSS SAFETY CONCERNS IN
    6  THAT SCHOOL, INCLUDING MATTERS RELATED TO SCHOOL SAFETY OFFICERS.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided that the  amend-
    8  ments to section 2590-h of the education law made by section one of this
    9  act  shall not affect the expiration of such section and shall be deemed
   10  expired therewith.
