         printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes
       AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure  law,  in  relation  to  granting
         peace  officer  status to certain designated employees of the Richmond
         county public administrator's office
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Section  2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by
    2  adding a new subdivision 84 to read as follows:
    3    84. THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR OR THE CHIEF INVESTIGATOR OF  THE  OFFICE
    4  OF  THE  RICHMOND  COUNTY  PUBLIC  ADMINISTRATOR,  WHEN  ENGAGING IN THE
    5  PROTECTION OR TRANSFER OF A DECEDENT'S PROPERTY. PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT
    6  NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION  SHALL  AUTHORIZE  SUCH  OFFICER  TO  CARRY,
    7  POSSESS,  REPAIR  OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE
    8  THEREFOR HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW.
    9    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
