        Introduced  by  Sen.  LANZA  -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Consumer Protection
        AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to warning  labels
          on certain sports and muscle creams
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may  be  cited  as
     2  "Arielle's law".
     3    § 2. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 391-u
     4  to read as follows:
     5    §  391-u.  Sale  or promotional distribution of sports or muscle cream
     6  containing methyl salicylate. 1. No person,  firm,  corporation  or  any
     7  other  entity  shall  sell  or  offer to sell, or give away as part of a
     8  promotional distribution, any form of sports or muscle cream  containing
     9  methyl  salicylate  unless  a warning label is displayed thereon stating
    10  that the product contains methyl salicylate,  should  be  used  only  as
    11  directed, and that a physician should be consulted prior to such use.
    12    2.  Violation  of the provisions of subdivision one of this section is
    13  punishable, as a civil penalty, by a fine not  to  exceed  five  hundred
    14  dollars for each violation thereof.
    15    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
