       Introduced by Sen. PANEPINTO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Insurance
       AN  ACT  to  amend  the  insurance  law, in relation to health insurance
         coverage for follow-up ultrasound for breast cancer screening
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Paragraph  11  of  subsection  (i) of section 3216 of the
    2  insurance law is amended by adding a new subparagraph  (F)  to  read  as
    3  follows:
    4    (F) SUCH COVERAGE SHALL ALSO BE PROVIDED, UPON THE RECOMMENDATION OF A
    5  PHYSICIAN,  FOR  A  FOLLOW-UP  ULTRASOUND, IN THE EVENT THAT A PHYSICIAN
    6  DETERMINES THAT A COVERED PERSON HAS EXTREMELY DENSE OR  HETEROGENEOUSLY
    7  DENSE BREAST TISSUE.
    8    S  2.  Paragraph 11 of subsection (l) of section 3221 of the insurance
    9  law is amended by adding a new subparagraph (F) to read as follows:
   10    (F) SUCH COVERAGE SHALL ALSO BE PROVIDED, UPON THE RECOMMENDATION OF A
   11  PHYSICIAN, FOR A FOLLOW-UP ULTRASOUND, IN THE  EVENT  THAT  A  PHYSICIAN
   12  DETERMINES  THAT A COVERED PERSON HAS EXTREMELY DENSE OR HETEROGENEOUSLY
   13  DENSE BREAST TISSUE.
   14    S 3. Subsection (p) of section 4303 of the insurance law is amended by
   15  adding a new paragraph 5 to read as follows:
   16    (5) SUCH COVERAGE SHALL ALSO BE PROVIDED, UPON THE RECOMMENDATION OF A
   17  PHYSICIAN, FOR A FOLLOW-UP ULTRASOUND, IN THE  EVENT  THAT  A  PHYSICIAN
   18  DETERMINES  THAT A COVERED PERSON HAS EXTREMELY DENSE OR HETEROGENEOUSLY
   19  DENSE BREAST TISSUE.
   20    S 4. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth  day  after  it  shall
   21  have  become a law and shall apply to all policies and contracts issued,
   22  renewed, modified, altered or amended on or after such date.
