        Introduced  by Sen. GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes  --  recommitted  to
          the  Committee  on  Codes  in accordance with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 --
          committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as  amended  and
          recommitted to said committee
        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  criminal procedure law, in relation to granting
          special agents of the veterans affairs office of the inspector general
          peace officer status
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 85 to read as follows:
     3    85. Special agents of the veterans affairs  office  of  the  inspector
     4  general, when acting pursuant to their special duties in matters arising
     5  under  laws  relating to improving veterans' lives by bringing criminals
     6  who prey upon them to justice; provided, however, that nothing  in  this
     7  subdivision shall be deemed to authorize such members to carry, possess,
     8  repair  or  dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate license therefor
     9  has been issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal law.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
