       AN  ACT  to  amend the public officers law, in relation to modifying the
         definition of relative
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1. Paragraph (m) of subdivision 1 of section 73 of the public
    2  officers law, as added by chapter 14 of the laws of 2007, is amended  to
    3  read as follows:
    4    (m)  The "relative" of any individual shall mean [any person living in
    5  the same household as the individual and any  person  who  is  a  direct
    6  descendant  of  that  individual's  grandparents  or  the spouse of such
    7  descendant] SUCH INDIVIDUAL'S GRANDFATHER, FATHER, GRANDMOTHER,  MOTHER,
    8  SON,  DAUGHTER,  BROTHER,  SISTER, UNCLE, AUNT, FIRST COUSIN, NEPHEW AND
    9  SPOUSE,   NIECE   AND   SPOUSE,   HUSBAND,   WIFE,   DOMESTIC   PARTNER,
   10  FATHER-IN-LAW,      MOTHER-IN-LAW,      SON-IN-LAW,     DAUGHTER-IN-LAW,
   11  BROTHER-IN-LAW, SISTER-IN-LAW, STEPFATHER,  STEPMOTHER,  STEPSON,  STEP-
   12  DAUGHTER, STEPBROTHER, STEPSISTER, HALF BROTHER OR HALF SISTER.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
