STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4422--A 2015-2016 Regular Sessions IN SENATE March 19, 2015 ___________ Introduced by Sens. GOLDEN, FELDER, SAVINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Trans- portation -- recommitted to the Committee on Transportation in accord- ance with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in Kings county as the "Brooklyn Veterans Memorial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-e. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Brooklyn Veterans Memorial Highway". All that portion of the highway 5 system constituting interstate route 278 in the county of Kings from its 6 southern boundary at the Verrazano-Narrows bridge continuing north until 7 the Queens county line shall be designated and known as the "Brooklyn 8 Veterans Memorial Highway". 9 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 10 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 11 as designated pursuant to section one of this act; provided that, to 12 avoid any confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, 13 the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be 14 one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not 15 be changed as a result of this act. 16 § 3. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall 17 have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD09967-02-6
