FOLEY, MONTGOMERY, C. JOHNSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to establishment of citizen review panels for the counties of Nassau and Suffolk and Rock- land and Westchester THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 371-b of the social services law, 2 as added by chapter 136 of the laws of 1999, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 1. There shall be established at least [three] FOUR citizen review 5 panels. At least one panel shall be established for the city of New 6 York, AT LEAST ONE PANEL SHALL BE ESTABLISHED FOR THE COUNTIES OF 7 NASSAU, SUFFOLK, ROCKLAND AND WESTCHESTER and at least two panels shall 8 be established for social services districts or combinations of 9 districts outside of the city of New York. The panel in the city of New 10 York shall create one subcommittee for each borough for the purposes of 11 evaluating the extent to which the state and the social services 12 district are discharging their child protection responsibilities within 13 that particular borough, in accordance with [subsection] SUBDIVISION 14 three of this section. The office of children and family services shall 15 make available resources to support the needs of each citizen review 16 panel. 17 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
