        Introduced  by  Sen. FUNKE -- (at request of the Office of Parks, Recre-
          ation and Historic Preservation) -- read twice  and  ordered  printed,
          and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs,
          Tourism, Parks and Recreation
        AN  ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in
          relation to the powers and duties of the commissioner
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1. Section 3.09 of the parks, recreation and historic preser-
     2  vation law is amended by  adding  a  new  subdivision  5-a  to  read  as
     3  follows:
     4    5-a.  Be empowered, to enter into mutual aid and assistance agreements
     5  with other states, executive agencies and political subdivisions of such
     6  states, in cases of  public  emergencies  for  the  health,  safety  and
     7  welfare  of  the  public using state park facilities and in geographical
     8  locations in other states which border such facilities. Such mutual  aid
     9  agreements  may  include provisions for the furnishing and exchanging of
    10  supplies, equipment, facilities, personnel, services during an  emergen-
    11  cy,  and  for  joint  training exercises in preparation for dealing with
    12  emergencies.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
