A BILL
To require the Department of Education to conduct a 1
performance review of each chartered nonpublic 2
school participating in the Educational Choice 3
Scholarship Program.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. Prior to the date on which the Department of 5
Education begins accepting applications for Educational Choice 6
Scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year, the Department shall 7
complete a performance review of each chartered nonpublic school 8
that has enrolled scholarship recipients under the scholarship 9
program.10

       The performance review shall consist of an analysis of the 11
following:12

       (A) The assessment scores attained by scholarship students 13
and compiled by the Department pursuant to section 3310.15 of the 14
Revised Code, including a comparison of the performance of 15
scholarship students enrolled at the chartered nonpublic school 16
with the performance of students enrolled in the buildings 17
operated by those scholarship students' resident school districts;18

       (B) Any of the performance indicators created by the State 19
Board of Education under section 3302.02 of the Revised Code that 20
the Department considers appropriate to apply to the chartered 21
nonpublic school;22

       (C) Any other performance measures the Department considers 23
appropriate.24
