A BILL
To amend section 955.08 of the Revised Code to 1
authorize county auditors to issue dog 2
registration tags that are valid for more than one 3
year and include a QR code on dog registration 4
tags.5


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 955.08 of the Revised Code be amended 6
to read as follows:7

       Sec. 955.08.  In addition to the certificate of registration 8
provided for by section 955.07 of the Revised Code, the county 9
auditor shall issue to every person making application for the 10
registration of a dog and paying the required fee therefor a metal 11
tag for each dog so registered. TheHowever, the county auditor 12
may issue a tag that is valid for a period of time greater than 13
one year.14

       The color, form, character, and lettering of the tag shall be 15
prescribed by the county auditor. Each year the tag shall be a 16
color distinctive from that of the previous yearThe county 17
auditor may issue a tag that is imprinted or affixed with a quick 18
response, or QR, code. If19

       If a tag is lost, a duplicate shall be furnished by the 20
auditor upon proper proof of loss and the payment of five dollars 21
for each duplicate tag issued.22

       Section 2.  That existing section 955.08 of the Revised Code 23
is hereby repealed.24
