A BILL
To enact section 4501.026 of the Revised Code to 1
require the registrar of motor vehicles and deputy 2
registrars to inquire about an individual's 3
veteran status, and, if given permission, to 4
forward the veteran's personal information to the 5
director of veterans services. 6


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 4501.026 of the Revised Code be 7
enacted to read as follows: 8

       Sec. 4501.026.  The registrar of motor vehicles or a deputy 9
registrar shall ask an individual with whom the registrar or 10
deputy registrar conducts a motor vehicle or driver's license 11
transaction if the individual is a veteran. If the individual 12
claims to be a veteran, the registrar or deputy registrar shall 13
ask permission from the individual to send the individual's name, 14
veteran status, address, telephone number, and e-mail address to 15
the director of veterans services in order for the director to 16
seek out veterans benefits and services for that individual and 17
for the state. If the individual agrees to have the information 18
sent to the director of veterans services, the registrar or 19
deputy registrar shall so send the information.20
