| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania |
2 | Consolidated Statutes, further providing for Pennsylvania |
3 | State Fire Academy. |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. Section 7384(d) of Title 35 of the Pennsylvania |
7 | Consolidated Statutes, added November 23, 2010 (P.L. , |
8 | No.118), is amended to read: |
9 | § 7384. Pennsylvania State Fire Academy. |

11 | (d) Firefighter training and certification.--A Statewide |
12 | firefighter training program shall be implemented by the |
13 | commissioner to educate the fire service community about the |
14 | importance of firefighter health and safety. This program shall |
15 | include measures designed to increase the mobility of training |
16 | courses throughout this Commonwealth, to enhance firefighter |

1 | accessibility to training course offerings and to improve and |
2 | expand training for and response capability to emergencies with |
3 | emphasis on hazardous materials incidents. The program shall |
4 | also include implementation of a firefighter certification |
5 | program in accordance with parameters developed by the |
6 | commissioner consistent with established standards. Firefighter |
7 | certification standards developed by the State Fire Commissioner |
8 | shall not violate a person's religious freedoms. The acquisition |
9 | of physical resources to enhance Statewide capability shall be |
10 | coordinated by the commissioner. |
