AN ACT

Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An

2

act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public

3

welfare laws of the Commonwealth," in public assistance,

4

further providing for general assistance-related

5

categorically needy and medically needy only medical

6

assistance programs; and making an appropriation.

7

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

8

hereby enacts as follows:

9

Section 1.  Section 403.2 of the act of June 13, 1967

10

(P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, added June

11

30, 2012 (P.L.668, No.80), is amended to read:

Section 403.2.  General Assistance-Related Categorically

13

Needy and Medically Needy Only Medical Assistance Programs.--(a)

14

Subject to [subsection] subsections (b) and (c) and

15

notwithstanding any other provision of law, the general

16

assistance cash assistance program shall cease August 1, 2012.

17

(b)  The general assistance-related categorically needy

18

medical assistance program shall continue, including, but not

19

limited to, the eligibility and work and work-related

requirements under this article. The general assistance-related

2

medical assistance program for the medically needy only shall

3

continue.

4

(c)  The general assistance cash assistance program for

5

individuals with a disability and for children under thirteen

6

years of age living with an unrelated adult shall continue until

7

November 1, 2012.

Section 2.  The sum of $12,400,000, or as much thereof as may

9

be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of Public

10

Welfare for the fiscal year July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013, to

11

carry out the provisions of section 403.2(c) of the act.

12

Section 3.  This act shall be retroactive to July 1, 2012.

13

Section 4.  This act shall take effect immediately.
