A RESOLUTION

Designating October 4, 2009, as "Pulaski Day" and the month of

2

October 2009 as "Polish American Heritage Month" in

3

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Since 1608, Polish people have been an important

5

part of American history; and

6

WHEREAS, In October 2009, Polish Americans will celebrate the

7

76th anniversary of Philadelphia's Pulaski Day Parade and the

8

28th anniversary of "Polish American Heritage Month"; and

9

WHEREAS, These events began in Philadelphia and went on to

10

become a national celebration; and

11

WHEREAS, This year Polonia will mark the 230th anniversary of

12

the death of General Casimir Pulaski, who is known as the Father

13

of the American Cavalry, the 70th anniversary of the invasion of

14

Poland and the outbreak of World War II; and

15

WHEREAS, On October 1, 2009, at noon, a "Pulaski Day" and

16

"Polish American Heritage Month" proclamation ceremony will take

17

place at the Polish American Cultural Center Museum, 308 Walnut

18

Street in historic Philadelphia; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate October

2

4, 2009, as "Pulaski Day" and the month of October 2009 as

3

"Polish American Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania.
