| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating October 4, 2009, as "Pulaski Day" and the month of |
2 | October 2009 as "Polish American Heritage Month" in |
3 | Pennsylvania. |
4 | WHEREAS, Since 1608, Polish people have been an important |
5 | part of American history; and |
6 | WHEREAS, In October 2009, Polish Americans will celebrate the |
7 | 76th anniversary of Philadelphia's Pulaski Day Parade and the |
8 | 28th anniversary of "Polish American Heritage Month"; and |
9 | WHEREAS, These events began in Philadelphia and went on to |
10 | become a national celebration; and |
11 | WHEREAS, This year Polonia will mark the 230th anniversary of |
12 | the death of General Casimir Pulaski, who is known as the Father |
13 | of the American Cavalry, the 70th anniversary of the invasion of |
14 | Poland and the outbreak of World War II; and |
15 | WHEREAS, On October 1, 2009, at noon, a "Pulaski Day" and |
16 | "Polish American Heritage Month" proclamation ceremony will take |
17 | place at the Polish American Cultural Center Museum, 308 Walnut |
18 | Street in historic Philadelphia; therefore be it |

2 | 4, 2009, as "Pulaski Day" and the month of October 2009 as |
3 | "Polish American Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania. |
