A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Memorializing Congress to re-evaluate the enhanced emission

inspection program as required by the Federal Clean Air Act

3

Amendments of 1990.

WHEREAS, Today's fleet of vehicles are newer than in the

5

past; and

6

WHEREAS, Today's Federal mandates on manufacturers require

7

cleaner vehicles; and

8

WHEREAS, Very few vehicles do not pass the emission

9

inspection test; and

10

WHEREAS, The test is costly because the consumer is required

11

to have a clean vehicle tested yearly; and

12

WHEREAS, The test is antiquated based on how vehicles are

13

manufactured today; and

14

WHEREAS, The test is not providing improved air quality in

15

the same manner as it did ten years ago; therefore be it

16

RESOLVED (the House of Representatives concurring), That the

17

Pennsylvania General Assembly memorialize Congress to re-

evaluate the enhanced emission inspection program; and be it

further

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to

4

the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each

5

member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
