| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Commending the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology for its efforts |
2 | to educate Pennsylvanians about the importance of having |
3 | regular hearing screenings, and recognizing the month of May |
4 | 2012 as "Better Hearing Month" in Pennsylvania. |
5 | WHEREAS, Optimum performance and health of the human body |
6 | depends on the ability of people to hear and understand |
7 | communication and other environmental sounds; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Damage to hair cells in the cochlea cause hearing |
9 | loss that may be treated by hearing aids or cochlear implants |
10 | which improve a person's ability to hear and understand; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Hearing aids or cochlear implants can drastically |
12 | improve a person's quality of life; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Hearing loss is often not noticed by a person as a |
14 | result of its slow progression; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Doctors of audiology are licensed professionals |
16 | uniquely trained to locate, analyze and correct hearing loss; |
17 | and |
18 | WHEREAS, Regular hearing screenings can ensure that hearing |

1 | problems are remedied before they become permanent; and |
2 | WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology has been a |
3 | leader in educating Pennsylvanians about the importance of |
4 | having regular hearing screenings; therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That the Senate commend the Pennsylvania Academy of |
6 | Audiology for its efforts to educate Pennsylvanians about the |
7 | importance of having regular hearing screenings; and be it |
8 | further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the month of May 2012 as |
10 | "Better Hearing Month" in Pennsylvania. |
