A bill

 

TO AMEND ACT 588 OF 1986, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SINGLE-MEMBER ELECTION DISTRICTS FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD OF AIKEN COUNTY, SO AS TO REAPPORTION THE DISTRICTS BEGINNING WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS IN 2024, TO REDESIGNATE THE MAP NUMBER ON WHICH THESE DISTRICTS MAY BE FOUND, AND TO PROVIDE DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION REGARDING THE REAPPORTIONED ELECTION DISTRICTS.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

 

SECTION 1.  Section 1A of Act 588 of 1986, as last amended by Act 299 of 2014, is further amended to read:

 

    Section 1A. Beginning with the election conducted in 2014 2024 the nine defined single-member election districts from which each member of the School Board of Aiken County must be elected by the qualified electors of that district are as shown on the official map designated as S-03-00-14 24 as and maintained byon file with the Office of Research and Statistics of the State Budget and Control BoardRevenue and Fiscal Affairs.

 

SECTION 2.  Section 1B of Act 588 of 1986, as last amended by Act 299 of 2014, is further amended to read:

SECTION 3.  Notwithstanding another provision of law, the map referenced in this act alters only the boundaries of the single-member election districts that compose the Aiken County Public School District. It does not alter the exterior boundaries of the Aiken County Public School District.

 

SECTION 4.  This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
