| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 33, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 33.904 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 33.904. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS; | ||
| FEDERAL FUNDING. (a) The governor, in collaboration with the | ||
| executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission, | ||
| shall submit to the United States secretary of health and human | ||
| services an application for each of the fiscal years 2011 through | ||
| 2014 as provided by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act | ||
| (Pub. L. No. 111-148) to receive allotted federal funds for this | ||
| state to carry out personal responsibility education programs as | ||
| provided by that Act. | ||
| (b) This section expires September 1, 2015. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
