BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 33, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 33.904 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 33.904. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS; | ||
FEDERAL FUNDING. (a) The governor, in collaboration with the | ||
executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission, | ||
shall submit to the United States secretary of health and human | ||
services an application for each of the fiscal years 2011 through | ||
2014 as provided by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act | ||
(Pub. L. No. 111-148) to receive allotted federal funds for this | ||
state to carry out personal responsibility education programs as | ||
provided by that Act. | ||
(b) This section expires September 1, 2015. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
