| relating to the use of certain money deposited to the state highway | ||
| fund for transportation projects in energy-producing regions of | ||
| this state. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 222, Transportation Code, | ||
| is amended by adding Section 222.007 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 222.007. ENERGY-PRODUCING REGIONS ACCOUNT. (a) The | ||
| comptroller shall credit 25 percent of the money deposited to the | ||
| state highway fund under Section 49-g(c), Article III, Texas | ||
| Constitution, to an account in that fund known as the | ||
| energy-producing regions account. | ||
| (b) Money in the energy-producing regions account may be | ||
| appropriated only to pay for constructing, maintaining, or | ||
| acquiring rights-of-way for local public roadways, other than toll | ||
| roads, in energy-producing regions of this state. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
