A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the definition of urban transit district.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 458.001(4), Transportation Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
               (4)  "Urban transit district" means:
                     (A)  a local governmental body or political
  subdivision of this state that operates a public transportation
  system in an urbanized area:
                           (i)  with a population of more than 50,000
  but less than 200,000; or
                           (ii)  that is located on a barrier island and
  has a population of more than 45,000 but less than 50,000; and
                     (B)  [. The term includes] a small urban
  transportation provider under Chapter 456 that on September 1,
  1994, received public transportation money through the department.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
