relating to the development of healthy nutrition and physical | ||
activity guidelines for licensed child-care providers, public | ||
school teachers, and public school administrators. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 114, Health and Safety Code, is amended | ||
by adding Section 114.009 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 114.009. NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY GUIDELINES | ||
FOR CHILD-CARE PROVIDERS. (a) The council shall develop wellness | ||
guidelines to educate licensed child-care providers, public school | ||
teachers, and public school administrators about serving as role | ||
models for children by: | ||
(1) practicing healthy nutrition; and | ||
(2) engaging in physical activity. | ||
(b) The council shall develop incentives to encourage | ||
licensed child-care providers, public school teachers, and public | ||
school administrators to follow the guidelines. | ||
(c) The council shall communicate the guidelines and | ||
incentives to licensed child-care providers, public school | ||
teachers, and public school administrators in this state in a | ||
manner that the council determines is appropriate. | ||
SECTION 2. The interagency obesity council shall develop | ||
the guidelines and incentives required by Sections 114.009(a) and | ||
(b), Health and Safety Code, as added by this Act, not later than | ||
January 1, 2016. The council shall communicate the guidelines and | ||
incentives as required by Section 114.009(c), as added by this Act, | ||
not later than July 1, 2016. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
