| relating to required mental health, behavioral health, and | ||
| substance abuse services under the Texas women's health program. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 531.0997. TEXAS WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM; REQUIRED | ||
| SERVICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. | ||
| (a) In this section, "Texas women's health program" means a program | ||
| operated by the commission that is substantially similar to the | ||
| demonstration project operated under former Section 32.0248, Human | ||
| Resources Code, and that is intended to expand access to preventive | ||
| health and family planning services for women in this state. | ||
| (b) The health care services provided under the Texas | ||
| women's health program must include screening and treatment for: | ||
| (1) mental health conditions; | ||
| (2) behavioral health conditions; and | ||
| (3) substance abuse disorders. | ||
| (c) The executive commissioner shall adopt rules necessary | ||
| to implement this section. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017. | ||
