relating to monitoring the Internet access of certain high-risk sex | ||
offenders who are released on parole or to mandatory supervision. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 508, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 508.1862 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 508.1862. MONITORING OF COMPUTER USE FOR CERTAIN SEX | ||
OFFENDERS. (a) This section applies only to a releasee to whom the | ||
department assigns a risk level of "high" under Section 493.0151. | ||
(b) A parole panel shall require as a condition of parole or | ||
mandatory supervision that a releasee described by Subsection (a) | ||
submit to the monitoring of each computer or other electronic | ||
device regularly used by the releasee to access the Internet. | ||
(c) The parole panel may modify at any time a condition | ||
imposed under this section if the condition interferes with the | ||
releasee's ability to attend school or become or remain employed | ||
and consequently constitutes an undue hardship for the releasee. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to a person who is released on parole or to mandatory supervision on | ||
or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
