| relating to the eligibility for employment of a trustee of certain | ||
| independent school districts. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Sec. 11.063, Education Code is amended to read as | ||
| follows: | ||
| Sec. 11.063. ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT. A trustee of an | ||
| independent school district, other than a trustee of a district | ||
| eligible to receive funding under Chapter 48.101(b), Education | ||
| Code, may not accept employment with that school district until the | ||
| first anniversary of the date the trustee's membership on the board | ||
| ends. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
