HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, Carl H. Isett of the United States Navy Reserve
  earned promotion to the rank of captain on June 1, 2013, and this
  achievement represents a fitting opportunity to recognize him for
  his outstanding record of military service; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University, where he earned
  both bachelor's and master's degrees, Captain Isett was
  commissioned in the United States Navy Reserve Supply Corps Program
  in 1991; his initial assignments included serving as executive
  officer for the Defense Distribution Depot Oakland Headquarters
  Unit in Lubbock and then as officer in charge of detachments in
  Lubbock and Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Captain Isett went on to gain experience in posts
  overseas, working as a special projects officer in Thailand and as a
  logistic watch officer in Singapore, and he supported the navy's
  major logistical hub in the Persian Gulf as the commanding officer
  for Naval Supply Activity Bahrain, Det B, in San Antonio; along the
  way, he attained his warfare qualification as a naval aviation
  supply officer, and in 2006 he deployed with the Navy Customs
  Battalion QUEBEC to Kuwait and Iraq as the executive officer of
  nearly 400 sailors; that same year, he was promoted to the rank of
  commander; and
         WHEREAS, Following assignments in Oklahoma City and Denver,
  Captain Isett was called to active duty in June 2011; he took
  command of the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution in Kandahar,
  Afghanistan, the only facility of its kind to be located within an
  active theater of war; during much of his naval career, he further
  benefited his fellow citizens as a member of the Texas House of
  Representatives, holding office for seven terms; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished officer has contributed
  significantly to the units with which he has served, and through his
  commitment, skill, and dedication, he has exemplified the highest
  standards of the United States armed forces; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas,
  2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Carl H. Isett on his
  promotion to the rank of captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve and extend
  to him sincere appreciation for his admirable service in behalf of
  this country and the Lone Star State; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Captain Isett as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
