R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Niha Zafar of Jasper High School in Plano won first
  place in the Class 3A spelling and vocabulary competition at the UIL
  Academic State Meet in Austin on May 22, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Representing her school at the 2013 UIL District
  Meet, Ms. Zafar excelled in competition and qualified to advance to
  regionals, where she again took top honors; she subsequently made
  her school proud at the state meet, when she squared off against the
  best 125 young Texans in her division; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Usman and Naila Zafar,
  this dynamic young woman is graduating as one of the top three
  students in the Jasper High School Class of 2013; a dedicated
  scholar, she has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers
  and peers for her positive attitude and strong work ethic; and
         WHEREAS, To perform at the highest level in statewide
  academic competition requires not only skill and intellect but also
  exceptional commitment, and Ms. Zafar may reflect with pride on
  this notable achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Niha Zafar for her
  outstanding performance at the 2013 UIL Academic State Meet and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Zafar as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
