R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Midway High School in Waco is home to numerous
  students who share their time and talents for the benefit of others,
  and these young people were honored with the 2011 Spirit of Midway
  Award; and
         WHEREAS, Created by the Midway Independent School District
  Education Foundation and the Midway High School PTA, the award
  acknowledges students who complete 15 hours of community service,
  while also maintaining at least a B average and participating in two
  or more extracurricular activities; and
         WHEREAS, In 2011, 300 students met these criteria, and they
  were recognized at a breakfast on March 2 that was attended by MISD
  superintendent Brad Lancaster; they each received a letter jacket
  and patch as commendation for their efforts; and
         WHEREAS, The Spirit of Midway Award is encouraging MHS youth
  in their personal development by rewarding them for setting and
  achieving goals that not only build character but also contribute
  to the world at large, and the 2011 recipients should be justifiably
  proud of their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Midway High School 2011 Spirit
  of Midway Award winners and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
