WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the | ||
family and friends of Stanley James Briers, who passed away on | ||
October 10, 2022; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Harry and Mary Briers, Stanley Briers was | ||
born in 1936 in Houston and grew up alongside his six siblings; he | ||
graduated from Saint Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in | ||
1955 and continued his education at Tulane University and the | ||
University of Houston; after serving in the U.S. Army for two years, | ||
he returned to Houston and established a successful air | ||
conditioning, electrical, and plumbing company; and | ||
WHEREAS, Active in his professional community, Mr. Briers | ||
held leadership roles with a number of trade associations, | ||
including the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, the | ||
Construction Industry Council, and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling | ||
Contractors Association; he also served his fellow citizens as a | ||
precinct chair and election judge and as a member of the Knights of | ||
Columbus and the American Legion; and | ||
WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Briers shared a | ||
rewarding marriage with his wife, Carrolyn, that spanned more than | ||
three decades, and he took great pride in his children, Dorothy, | ||
Latane, Tipton, Harry, Kimberly, Kelly, Tammy, and Brandon; with | ||
the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to | ||
include 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; in his leisure | ||
time, he enjoyed hunting and racing cars and boats, and he was a | ||
licensed pilot; and | ||
WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family, his | ||
generosity of spirit, and his joyous zest for life, Stanley Briers | ||
enriched the lives of all who knew him, and they will forever hold | ||
him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Stanley James | ||
Briers and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stanley | ||
Briers. | ||
