| WHEREAS, The wisdom and experience of centenarians are a | ||
| source of enduring inspiration, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor | ||
| Cecilia Ozuna Vazquez of Houston, who will join this elite group of | ||
| Texans on February 1, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in 1913 in Lockhart, Cecilia Vazquez left | ||
| school in order to help support her family by working on her | ||
| parents' farm; she was subsequently employed in the garment | ||
| district in Chicago until the age of 19, when she met her future | ||
| husband, Jose D. Vazquez; after her marriage, she worked as a floral | ||
| assistant and pursued her education at a local special assistance | ||
| school; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Vazquez is the mother of five children, Joe, | ||
| Virginia, Anthony, Charles, and Frank, and over the years her | ||
| family has grown to include five grandchildren, Joe, Martin, | ||
| Franky, Sarah, and Yevette, as well as three great-grandchildren, | ||
| Nicole, Joseph, and Andrew; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Blessed with the affection of a host of loved ones | ||
| and sustained by her strong faith, Mrs. Vazquez continues to enrich | ||
| the lives of all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby recognize Cecilia Ozuna Vazquez on the | ||
| remarkable milestone of her 100th birthday and extend to her | ||
| sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable celebration; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mrs. Vazquez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
