WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Charley Phelps Peck of Weatherford on April 9, 2023, at | ||
the age of 62; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Lola and Loman Peck, Charley Peck was born | ||
on February 11, 1961, in Paducah, Kentucky, and he grew up with two | ||
sisters, Lo'Anne and Loma; he attended Reidland High School, where | ||
he played basketball and football, and following his graduation in | ||
1979, he continued his education at Murray State University; he was | ||
a member of the university's football team and joined Alpha Tau | ||
Omega before graduating with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and | ||
biology; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Peck enjoyed a successful career in the chemical | ||
industry; he worked for two decades with Brenntag, and most | ||
recently, he served as president of Cooper Natural Resources; | ||
active in his community, he gave of his time and talents to the Pine | ||
Tree Independent School District Board of Trustees, the Hiway 80 | ||
Rescue Mission, and Parker County Emergency Service District 7; he | ||
was also a deacon at First Baptist Church in Longview and later | ||
taught Sunday school at North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Peck was deeply devoted to his | ||
wife, Sherry, and to his children, Preston and Morgan; he was quick | ||
to offer his kids encouragement and was present for all of their | ||
activities, coaching teams and attending recitals; later in life, | ||
he had the joy of welcoming into his family a daughter-in-law, | ||
Abbey, and a son-in-law, Trey, who he considered as his own | ||
children; in his leisure time, he could often be found outdoors, | ||
taking part in cookouts and hunting trips, and his life was further | ||
enriched by the companionship of his favorite hunting dog, Stick; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Charley Peck is deeply missed, those who | ||
were privileged to share in this esteemed man's love and friendship | ||
will always remember him with great admiration and affection; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charley Phelps Peck | ||
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his | ||
wife, Sherry Peck; to his son, Preston Peck, and his wife, Abbey; to | ||
his daughter, Morgan Gregory, and her husband, Trey; to his sister, | ||
Lo'Anne Peck, and Jeff Shuemaker; and to his other relatives and | ||
friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charley | ||
Peck. | ||
