WHEREAS, Amy Weinheimer graduated as valedictorian of her | ||
senior class at Groom High School on May 31, 2013; and | ||
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only | ||
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the | ||
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, | ||
Ms. Weinheimer demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide | ||
range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she | ||
devoted to her studies are myriad; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer, who served as president of her | ||
school's National Honor Society, received several scholarships | ||
from West Texas A&M University, including the Betty Teel Bivins | ||
Leadership Scholarship, as well as others from the Houston | ||
Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Better Business Bureau, the Groom | ||
Athlete Booster Club, and Christian Mothers; and | ||
WHEREAS, Active in University Interscholastic League | ||
competitions, this notable Texan qualified for regional in | ||
journalism for both headline and editorial writing and was named | ||
All Star Crew Best Sound Tech in One Act Play; vice president of the | ||
student council and an editor for the journalism/yearbook staff, | ||
she was named Student of the Month and a member of the Academic | ||
All-District team and was elected homecoming queen her senior year; | ||
she captained the cheerleading squad, played basketball, ran | ||
cross-country, and qualified for area and regional meets as a | ||
member of the track team; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Weinheimer worships at Immaculate Heart of Mary | ||
Catholic Church, where she participates in the youth ministry, and | ||
she has worked for her father and the school district; she heads to | ||
West Texas A&M University in the fall to major in agriculture; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Nick and Renee | ||
Weinheimer, Amy Weinheimer earned the respect and admiration of her | ||
teachers and classmates at Groom High School, and her exceptional | ||
scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have | ||
opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young | ||
Texan; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Amy | ||
Weinheimer on being named valedictorian of the Groom High School | ||
Class of 2013 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued | ||
success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Weinheimer as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
