R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gloria Galvan of McAllen has been named the
  2010-2011 Faculty Representative of the Year by the Texas Classroom
  Teachers Association; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1927, the TCTA now numbers more than
  50,000 members; its Faculty Representative of the Year Award is
  presented to a TCTA faculty representative who has provided
  outstanding service both to the school district in which he or she
  works and to the local TCTA affiliate; and
         WHEREAS, Gloria Galvan, a special education/inclusion
  teacher at the Achieve Early College High School in the McAllen
  Independent School District, has served as a TCTA faculty
  representative for 19 years and currently serves as treasurer of
  the McAllen chapter of TCTA; she has also represented the McAllen
  CTA on the Joint Professional Consultation Committee for eight
  years and has served on the TCTA Director's Council for more than a
  decade, and she is the current director for TCTA District 1; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed educator holds a bachelor of science
  degree from Texas Woman's University, and her career in the
  classroom spans more than two decades; she has taught for 19 years
  in the McAllen ISD; and
         WHEREAS, Through her tireless volunteer work with TCTA,
  Gloria Galvan has helped to provide crucial support to countless
  teachers across the state, and she is truly deserving of this recent
  accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gloria Galvan on her selection as
  the 2010-2011 Faculty Representative of the Year by the Texas
  Classroom Teachers Association and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Galvan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
