R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Roger Green is retiring as an agriculture teacher at
  Monterey High School in Lubbock in 2023, drawing to a close an
  outstanding career in education that has spanned more than four and
  a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1970 at Spur High School,
  Mr. Green went on to graduate from Texas Tech University in 1974,
  and throughout his life, he has upheld the university's motto,
  "Strive for Honor"; after embarking on his teaching career, he
  gained valuable experience at public schools across the Lone Star
  State, working in Crosbyton and Fredericksburg in addition to his
  many years of service with the Lubbock Independent School District;
  and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his responsibilities in teaching
  agriculture at Monterey High, Mr. Green has served as the Lubbock
  ISD ag farm manager, and he has coached five state championship
  judging teams; his accolades include recognition as the Lubbock ISD
  PTA Teacher of the Decade, and he collected his second Monterey
  Teacher of the Year award in 2022-2023; moreover, he has received
  the Mrs. Baird's Teacher on the Rise Award, and in 2021, he was
  presented with a 45-year Tenure Award by the Agriculture Teachers
  Association of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Highly respected by his peers, Mr. Green has served
  as the Area 7 president on the ATAT Board of Directors and as the
  Area 1 State AG Degree chair; moreover, he is a former mayor of
  Stonewall and a past president of the Stonewall Chamber of
  Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Roger Green's dedication and expertise have
  benefited countless students and earned him the lasting respect and
  admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed take great pride in
  his exceptional record of achievement as he embarks on the next
  exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Roger Green on his retirement from
  Monterey High School and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Green as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
