R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Chris Canales was elected to represent District 8 on
  the El Paso City Council on December 17, 2022; and
         WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Mr. Canales has served as a
  legislative staff person, advocate, organizer, and sustainability
  consultant, and he is a previous chief of staff for the El Paso City
  Council District 8 office; in addition, he draws on the experience
  he gained working for the New York City Department of Parks and
  Recreation; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Canales holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia
  University, and he is a graduate of Leadership El Paso; a founding
  member of the Conscious Barrio organization, he has also served as
  co-chair of the community council for the Vitalant blood bank, and
  he volunteers as a soccer referee; and
         WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of
  life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts
  of Chris Canales will help to make El Paso an even better place in
  which to live and work; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Chris Canales on his election as
  the District 8 representative on the El Paso City Council and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for a productive and successful tenure in
  office; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Canales as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
