R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Members of Christian Bible Church in Missouri City
  are gathering on September 24, 2017, to celebrate their church's
  31st anniversary and to express gratitude to their senior pastor,
  the Reverend Rudolph White Jr., for his more than three decades of
  service to that congregation; and
         WHEREAS, Under the auspices of Southway Baptist Church,
  Pastor White organized Christian Bible Church as an independent
  entity in 1986; the new church's inaugural service was held on April
  6 of that year, with 10 individuals in attendance; early on, the
  congregation worshipped in a storefront on South Braeswood
  Boulevard in Houston, and it later met at Hunters Glen Elementary
  School in Missouri City; and
         WHEREAS, In 1994, Christian Bible Church built its own
  sanctuary on land along Highway 2234; the church eventually outgrew
  that site, and in 2012 it moved to a new, 40,000-square-foot
  facility on Texas Parkway in Missouri City; the campus today
  includes a bookstore, gymnasium, playscape, and café, as well as
  administrative offices and classrooms; and
         WHEREAS, In the decades since the church's founding, its
  members have greatly benefited from Pastor White's deep faith,
  powerful preaching, and visionary leadership; this esteemed
  minister holds a bachelor's degree from the College of Biblical
  Studies in Houston and a master's degree from Faith Evangelical
  College & Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, and he has continued his
  studies at Luther Rice College & Seminary and Southwestern Baptist
  Theological Seminary; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor White gives generously of his time and
  talents as president of the Fort Bend County Pastors Association,
  and he works with Fort Bend Interfaith to support initiatives
  designed to improve local schools; in all his endeavors, he is
  blessed with the love and encouragement of his wife, Valarie, who
  assists him in his ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Countless Missouri City residents have looked to
  Christian Bible Church and Pastor White for spiritual guidance over
  the years, and it is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing the
  church and its founder at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the 31st
  anniversary of Christian Bible Church and honor the Reverend
  Rudolph White Jr. for his long service as its senior pastor; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
