R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The selfless efforts of civic leaders help to
  improve the lives of Texans across the state, and Carl David Evans
  has contributed immeasurably to his community though his
  distinguished service as president of Fort Bend Houston Super
  Neighborhood Council-41; and
         WHEREAS, A City of Houston super neighborhood is a group of
  contiguous communities where an elected council, representing
  residents, businesses, institutions, and civic organizations,
  works to address common needs and concerns; the Fort Bend Houston
  Super Neighborhood Council represents 14 civic associations in
  Southwest Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Evans has rendered exceptional service to this
  council over the course of his two terms as its president; he has
  also served as the designated representative of the Chasewood
  Improvement Association and as a member of the board of directors
  for SW Houston 2000 Inc., and he is a leader of the effort to stage
  Houston mayoral debates in Southwest Houston; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mr. Evans holds
  bachelor's degrees in accounting and business administration from
  the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a master's degree in
  divinity from the Houston Graduate School of Theology; he has
  worked for the Internal Revenue Service, the Environmental
  Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Energy, and he is
  currently an associate with the accounting firm of White-Orugboh
  and Associates; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his involvement with the super
  neighborhood council, this esteemed Texan is an active member of
  Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, where he teaches the men's Sunday
  school class and has worked as the youth superintendent; among the
  numerous honors he has received in recognition of his leadership
  and community efforts have been accolades from the U.S. Department
  of the Navy, the State of Texas, and the City of Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Evans's able leadership and tireless commitment
  to civic engagement have greatly benefited his fellow citizens, and
  he may indeed reflect with pride on all he has accomplished in his
  quest to help make the Houston area a better place to live, work,
  and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Carl David Evans on his service as
  president of Fort Bend Houston Super Neighborhood Council-41 and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his
  important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Evans as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
