| WHEREAS, Emily Collins graduated as salutatorian of the 2013 | ||
| senior class of Pleasanton High School; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only | ||
| intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the | ||
| highest academic standards; the student who garners this coveted | ||
| distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide | ||
| range of subjects, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study | ||
| and preparation are myriad; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Outside of school, Ms. Collins has shared her time | ||
| and energy as a volunteer with the local humane society and with a | ||
| summer reading program for children; in addition, she assisted at a | ||
| soup kitchen and performed at a concert benefiting the homeless; | ||
| she plans to study journalism at The University of Texas at Austin; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Emily Collins has | ||
| earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at | ||
| Pleasanton High, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, | ||
| and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless | ||
| opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be | ||
| it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Emily | ||
| Collins, salutatorian of the Pleasanton High School Class of 2013, | ||
| and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she | ||
| begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Collins as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
