WHEREAS, The boys' track team of Midland Christian School | ||
wrapped up the 2011 season in triumphant fashion by capturing the 4A | ||
state championship at the Texas Association of Private and | ||
Parochial Schools State Track and Field Championships, held on May | ||
6 and 7 in Waco; and | ||
WHEREAS, Guided by coach Chris McKinney, the Mustangs won the | ||
title with an exceptional team effort, scoring in 12 different | ||
events and tallying a total of 94 points to best the competition by | ||
a wide margin; the Midland Christian runners were especially | ||
consistent in the relays, garnering second place in the 400- and | ||
1,600-meter races and third place in the 800; and | ||
WHEREAS, The victory at the state meet marks the fifth TAPPS | ||
title for the Mustangs boys' runners in the past 15 years, and the | ||
school has also produced numerous individual and relay state | ||
champions during that period; this success has made Midland | ||
Christian one of the elite track squads in the state, and the | ||
members of the 2011 team may take justifiable pride in furthering | ||
that tradition of excellence; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate the boys' track team of Midland | ||
Christian School on winning the 2011 TAPPS 4A state championship | ||
and extend to the athletes and coaches sincere best wishes for | ||
continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
