R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Valle family have made a lasting
  and positive impact on the city of Garland, and their contributions
  indeed merit special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, The first Latino family recorded as residents of
  Garland, the Valles have lived in the city since the late 1920s,
  when Manuel and Maria Valle relocated to the area from El Paso; they
  raised eight children, six sons and two daughters, who were all
  Garland High School graduates and excelled in academics and sports;
  one son, Pascual Valle, was the first all-state football player
  from Garland, and he excelled in track as well; he and his son,
  Tony, became the first father-and-son duo inducted into the Garland
  Sports Hall of Fame; Pascual Valle's wife, Sylvia, was employed in
  education in the community for 45 years until her retirement; and
         WHEREAS, All six of Manuel and Maria Valle's sons served in
  the military, representing the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army Corps of
  Engineers, the U.S. Marine Corps, and the U.S. Air Force; they
  served in World War II, in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and in
  Middle East conflicts; moreover, the family's eldest daughter
  helped build planes during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, The family's integral role in the city has been
  recognized in a number of ways; in 2014, the Garland Independent
  School District named its student services center in honor of
  Manuel and Maria Valle, and in 2021 a musical drama based on the
  family's history, The Cactus Chronicles, had its debut; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of nearly a century, the members of
  the Valle family have inspired innumerable residents of North Texas
  through their exemplary service to their community and their
  country, and the family's legacy will continue to resonate for many
  years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Valle family for its many
  contributions to the city of Garland and extend to its members
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Valle family as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
