R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career in state and |
|
municipal government, Jesse Ancira Jr. has rendered exemplary |
|
service to his fellow Texans; and |
|
WHEREAS, An alumnus of Taylor High School, Mr. Ancira holds |
|
an accounting degree from Texas State University and a law degree |
|
from The University of Texas at Austin; during more than 20 years |
|
working for the State of Texas, he gained experience serving in the |
|
State Auditor's Office and in the office of the Comptroller of |
|
Public Accounts; in addition, he served as tax counsel for two |
|
private sector consulting firms, and he is a former special agent |
|
with the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ancira joined the staff of the Honorable Joe |
|
Straus, speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, as general |
|
counsel in 2009; his distinguished efforts in that post earned him |
|
promotion to chief of staff in 2012, and while overseeing the |
|
day-to-day operations of the speaker's office, he advised Speaker |
|
Straus and other members of the house on a range of policy, legal, |
|
and ethical issues; after fulfilling the responsibilities of that |
|
role for four years, he retired in March 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, While carrying out his duties at the State Capitol, |
|
Mr. Ancira concurrently served as a public official in his |
|
community of Taylor; he was elected to the city council in 2011 and |
|
2014, and his fellow council members elected him mayor in 2013; he |
|
served as a trustee for the Taylor Independent School District for |
|
six years, including three as president of the board, and he is a |
|
former member of the Temple College at Taylor Foundation and a past |
|
president of the Literacy Council of Williamson County; he |
|
currently operates a legislative advocacy and tax consulting |
|
business; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Ancira enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Mary, and he takes great pride in their |
|
children, Trey and Alexandria; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jesse Ancira Jr. has earned the deep respect and |
|
admiration of his fellow citizens and all those who have had the |
|
pleasure of working with him, and he may reflect with justifiable |
|
satisfaction on all that he has accomplished in behalf of his state |
|
and community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Jesse Ancira Jr. for his service to the |
|
City of Taylor and to the State of Texas and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ancira as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
