WHEREAS, Norman Lee Whitlow of Dallas passed away on May 3, | ||
2013, at the age of 70, leaving his circle of family and friends to | ||
cherish their many happy memories of time spent in his company; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born on February 25, 1943, to Robbie and James | ||
Whitlow, Norman Whitlow grew up in the Dallas area; he attended | ||
James Madison High School, where he participated in the marching | ||
band and the ROTC program, and he subsequently answered this | ||
country's call to duty with service in the United States Navy; | ||
following his honorable discharge, he embarked on a career with the | ||
U.S. Air Force; he served for many years, including during the | ||
Vietnam War, and after retiring, he enjoyed returning to Southeast | ||
Asia and spending time in Thailand; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Whitlow contributed to his community as an | ||
election judge and as a member of the parks and recreation board, | ||
and he also assisted with the opening of the Lancaster Library; in | ||
addition, he was a valued member of New Cliff Missionary Baptist | ||
Church, singing in the male chorus and serving as its military | ||
liaison; he remained involved with other area veterans through the | ||
Tan Son Nhut Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post | ||
1406-Division 42, and he volunteered his time in behalf of the | ||
American Veterans Traveling Tribute when it came to Dallas; on | ||
January 19, 2013, he married the love of his life, Janice Knoles; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Norman Whitlow made a meaningful difference in the | ||
lives of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and he will be | ||
missed and fondly remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Norman Lee Whitlow | ||
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
wife, Janice Whitlow; to his daughter, Tamesia Neath; to his | ||
grandson, Norman Kennedy; to his sister, Cheryl Whitlow Rhodes; to | ||
his brothers, Robert Whitlow and his wife, Shirley, and Don Whitlow | ||
and his wife, Marva; to his aunts, Maxine Franklin and Judy | ||
McDonald; to his uncles, Ronnie Cooks and his wife, Renee, Andrew | ||
Whitlow and his wife, Minnie, Clifton Franklin, and Rex Franklin; | ||
to his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mattie and Charlie Johns; | ||
to his sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith and her husband, Greg, Kathy | ||
Johnson, Helen Jackson and her husband, Alvin, and Vanessa Graham; | ||
to his brothers-in-law, Barron and Ronnie Graham; and to his other | ||
relatives and many friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Norman | ||
Whitlow. | ||
