R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the fight to contain the spread of COVID-19,
  members of the health care workforce have distinguished themselves
  by providing their fellow Americans with the highest level of
  professional services; and
         WHEREAS, On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization
  declared the coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic; on March 13,
  President Donald Trump declared a national emergency, mobilizing
  the entire United States in the fight against COVID-19, and on that
  same day, Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster for all
  counties in Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Doctors and nurses across the Lone Star State have
  worked tirelessly to combat COVID-19 by setting up testing
  facilities and providing constant top-notch care to individuals who
  have been infected by the disease; and
         WHEREAS, Mental health professionals have continued to
  provide excellent therapy and counseling services, even in the face
  of the unique challenges presented by social distancing; and
         WHEREAS, Researchers and lab technicians have been working
  around the clock to create tests, to develop a treatment and a
  vaccine, and, ultimately, to find a cure for COVID-19; moreover,
  public health officials continue to educate communities and to
  implement policies that will curb the communal spread of the
  coronavirus; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating a spirit of exceptional resilience
  and perseverance in the face of the COVID-19 crisis, all those in
  the health care community, including physicians, registered
  nurses, patient care assistants, public health officials, mental
  health professionals, researchers, and administrative and
  custodial staff, have strived to ensure that Texans receive vital
  and timely care, and they have earned the heartfelt gratitude of
  their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the professional health care workers of
  the United States for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic
  and extend to them sincere best wishes for their health and safety.
