R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Tiara Nicole Fizer of Dallas has been named a
  recipient of a 2011 Texas Legislative Black Caucus scholarship for
  House District 111; and
         WHEREAS, One of the top students at Lincoln High
  Humanities/Communications Magnet School in the Dallas Independent
  School District, Ms. Fizer has consistently placed on the honor
  roll, and she is a member of the National Honor Society; in
  addition, she participates in the Education is Freedom program to
  prepare for all facets of college life; and
         WHEREAS, This motivated and conscientious journalism student
  takes part in numerous extracurricular activities; she is the
  editor of the Lincoln Lantern newspaper, the president of the
  school's chapter of the Quill and Scroll International Honor
  Society, and a member of the Lincoln Tiger yearbook staff;
  moreover, she is a standout athlete on the varsity girls'
  basketball team and on the volleyball team, which placed first in
  All-District competition; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating leadership outside of school as well,
  Ms. Fizer serves as a choir director at her church, ministers in the
  community, and volunteers at area nursing homes; in addition, she
  participated in a summer internship at JP Morgan Chase, where she
  learned about the banking profession and acquired valuable business
  skills; and
         WHEREAS, Tiara Fizer has earned the respect and admiration of
  her teachers and classmates, and her exceptional academic ability,
  diligence, and commitment to excellence have surely opened the way
  to limitless opportunities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Tiara Nicole Fizer on her receipt
  of a 2011 Texas Legislative Black Caucus scholarship and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Fizer as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
